EASY TO BELIEVE

 Fabulous Science . . . .
all the stories agree
we began as a point,
density and heat infinite,
then Bang!

I can believe that,
as I can believe
in Juno and Jupiter,
calculus, Christ
walking on water.

It’s not belief that’s hard.
I get up believing
it’s me again, that the
red callibrachoa haven’t
crawled down off the porch,

that Battu the cat
hasn’t grown wings
overnight, and that love
will last another
day, at the very least.
